Comedy and Humour

15 three-hour classes taught on a weekly basis (delivered in Fall term)

Each student produces work to be included in a professionally published class anthology.

This workshop places an emphasis on humour and creativity, which will be pursued not only in writing but also through improvisational games. The goal is not only to build confidence in the students’ writing but also to build confidence in themselves, within a safe, fun, and interactive environment. There will be individual and small group writing assignments and large group activities including word game competitions, book discussions, and improv performing. Students will not improve their language proficiency, but will learn more about themselves; their personal style and their unique perspective of the world.

It is generally recommended that students participate in Dream Workshop Levels A and B before joining this intermediate class. In addition, students entering an intermediate program should demonstrate exceptional commitment to creative writing.

Students read 12-15 novels selected by the mentor to help improve reading and writing capabilities.
