Danika Dinsmore

Author of children's fantasy adventure series FAERIE TALES FROM THE WHITE FOREST, Danika Dinsmore has been working with children of all ages for over twenty years. Her specialties are poetry, spokenword, and speculative fiction.

With a B.A and Teaching Credential in Language Arts, an M.F.A. in Writing and Poetics, and an Advanced Certificate in Screenwriting, Danika has a diverse creative background.

An award-winning spokenword artist, Danika has performed at hundreds of events from Seattle's Bumbershoot Arts Festival to FaerieWorlds in Eugene, OR to the Labyrinth Poetry Series in Vienna, Austria.

In 1996, Danika co-created Washington State's first youth poetry slam and designed the Seattle Poetry Festival's Emerging Voice spokenword program for teens. She also created a curriculum guide for teaching poetry in the schools, published through a grant from the King County Arts Commission.

In 2005 she turned her attention to children's literature, and in particular speculative fiction, which she has loved since she was a child. With her background in poetry, screenwriting, and performing arts she brings a unique combination of experiences to the page, stage, and classroom.

Danika has taught creative writing and spokenword for Learning Through the Arts, Vancouver Film School, Capilano University, ABCDE Sears Drama Festival, VPL's Book Camp, and for dozens of schools, libraries, festivals, and conferences across North America.
